| Free Stuff |
[May. 8th, 2008|12:24 pm] |
So, I am moving house. To somewhere quite alot smaller so I have much stuff to get rid of... and also a garage full of bizarre bits of costume, and event tat. So if you are wanting, a three peice suite, a round black dining table plus four chairs, with matching black drinks cupboard, bookshelf and glass cabinet( or any part therof!), and some mystery garage tat... or are just wanting a nose around, let me know. I will be at home for some of the weekend of Friday 16 May, but will be out and about for some of saturday (people can stay and poke around in the garage if I'm not there I don't mind).
The furniture is going begging, as I would rather get rid than pay to store it, but for some of the stuff that is kit/ tat I would greatly appreciate donations to the 'Chrissie buys a new sword as her last one perished' fund.
Let me know if you will be coming down. I have plenty of crash space.
Hugs to all |

| Warning for the socially responsible! |
[Jan. 29th, 2008|11:55 pm] |
Apparently there IS such a thing as ZOMBIE ALLIGATORS (channel 5 is showing a programme about them next tuesday).
Obviously, this changes everything with regards to any 'plans' for escape in a zombie outbreak situation. No heading for Miami for me. Oh no. I am uncertain as to whether an alligator can chew it's way through a locked door though... hmmm....having said that I think someone else can test that theory!!
Hmmm back to the drawing board.
(yep, for those of you who didn't know, after falling from a great height, and claustrophobia, Zombie attack is right up there on my top ten things to be terrified by.... as are alligators, after an 'interesting' holiday in Florida. Combining TWO of my fears is just not on. Stupid evolution!) |

| re: Book Challenge more books pls! |
[Jan. 2nd, 2008|11:08 am] |
Thank you to all who have posted 'book challenge' suggestions. I will compile a list tonight, there are certainly some there that I have not read yet (but own so should!) or have not even heard of (therefore should read and broaden my horizons etc).
However I note that we are distinctly lacking in the genres that are not a) fantasy fiction or b) science fiction. Where are all the good whodunnits I am looking forward to reading? Come on, stretch my imagination. Get me to read something I would never have thought of reading. Is there a classic novel I really ought to read? Is there a kids book I have never read but should? Do I know all you think I should know about quantum physics (ok that one is a bit of a stretch, but you know what I mean)....
Mr Burston, Mr Mordey, Mr Sullivan, Ms Evans where are your suggestions? |

| Boxing Day Fun! |
[Dec. 20th, 2007|04:36 pm] |
Having lost my mobile for a worrying two days, (I use it as an alarm so have had not much sleep lol incase I don't wake up) I have found the beast... switched off and hiding in the bottom drawer of my desk under some contracts. Argh.
Switching it on, I was excited to see I have messages that mean I am popular!
So Blam has reminded me that I was having people over on Boxing Day. If you would like to come visit on Boxing Day let me know, crash space is available, but I am going to Wales Thursday so will have to kick you all out before lunch. I suspect there will only be a few waifs and strays available at such short notice, but well the offer is there... and we have a really really really big tin of roses and one of quality street! |

So it is raining. I melt in rain, as we all know, on account of being a wicked witch. Therefore do I a) go to the pub meet? or b) wallow at home in self pity?

| And another thing |
[Nov. 30th, 2007|03:35 pm] |
Anyone know where I can get a 'nativity scene' advent calendar (paper one), am happy for it to have choccies in but needs to have a baby jesus etc...
Have searched high and low in crawley and the closest I ahve come to is one with a Dalek on (sigh...) Last year I managed to find one mail order, but am now struggling to find any! Am finding this highly annoying as Arthur is religious and this is part of his 'christmas experience' and is something that he gets to bond with his gran on.
Any ideas or suggestions would be superb! |

[Nov. 12th, 2007|11:35 am] |
So the weekend was most excellent. Clare, Dave and Snowy were on the doorstep like latchkey kids when I got home with arthur, which made Arthur exceedingly happy, as it meant it had loads of time with them before bed...They have proved again that they truely are lovely friends, and brought me the most beautiful bunch of flowers (flowers AREN'T for other girls after all, they are for ME!). Have been caught out by Arthur several times staring smuggly at the beautiful bouquet.
Dave made the most yummy pasta bolognese which arthur wolfed down (having proclaimed to not be hungry, but seeing that his favourite food type was masterfully whisked up from nowhere suddennly became hungry!) This was most unexpected and very kind (everyone knows I am not the greatest of cooks... and Dave has proved again, many reasons why I should keep a Dave in the cupboard under the sink).
We then righted the wrongs of the world, and Snowy left to be exceedingly romantic to Emma (happy birthday honey!) Saturday morning was fully of crumpets and pancakes, and tea and chat (yum). Later Claire and DAve went to see the Sex Pistols and arthur and I did washing, mucked about on computers and had a jolly good time.
Arthur is not well today, having come down iwth his usual winter cold... which is making him cough enough to vom (yuck). So yup is off school today... which means I am home from owrk as there is noone to leave him with (mum and dad are in spain and Jan has her brood of babies who might catch it). Ah well. Stuff to do here I guess. |

[Nov. 8th, 2007|08:41 pm] |
Spent the afternoon and early evening in A&E with Arthur.... who had managed to damage his hand on a stationary and non-threatening steel pole, that was minding it's own business in the playground.. (I hasten to add here that he wasn't stupid enough to punch the pole on purpose, just that he was running and not looking where he was going... so it was probably better the pole than another child, as, by the result of what he has done to himself, he would have probably damaged anyone he had hit).
Arthur now has a HUGE right hand (yes indeed Lex, I know that you are thinking 'is it comedy size huge or just exageration sized huge',... it is comedy huge... yes that big).
Having been to X-ray and seeing a variety of nurses, and a lovely lady doctor, we were told that he probably hasn't broken his knuckles (as first thought due to the size of his hand, and his inability to move the majority of figures), however he has severely bruised his hand and the bones...and put pressure on the nerves in his hand and arm due to the swelling.
He has been exceedingly brave, even though the whole process took several hours... most of which could have been avoided if the bloody school had followed their own process and rung all the emergency contact numbers on the emergency contact list (I was in a meeting and had not taken my mobile phone with me... and obviously was not by my desk phone). I found out a hour and a half AFTER Arthur had injured himself, but no-one had rung, Dug (who is still the 2nd emergency contact on his school list, and yes Dug I will get them to change that now you aren't here anymore), my sister (who lives 4 minutes away from the school and could have been there immediately) or my parents house (they are admittedly in Spain atm, so wouldn't have been much help as they wouldn't be there to answer their phone, but it's the principal).
This has made me slightly dubious about the common sense of the reception/ welfare team at the school, as I know when I did that job, you kept ringing all the numbers on the list until you got SOMEONE, who would usually be able to give you a different number to contact the parent on.
Sigh. However, the main thing is that Arthur is ok and has an impressive bruise, and a sling to wow his friends with tomorrow. Am pretty proud of my brave little man, who didn't cry once through all the poking and prodding, even though he was very obviously in considerable pain.
When we finally got home, I just couldn't get my head around cooking, which cheered arthur up more as he got to have a pizza instead of my dodgy concoctions.
Arthur seems to be perkier than earlier, and is whittering about showing Clare his cool hand (I get the feeling that if the swelling goes before the welsh contingency arrive tomorrow arthur will be mortified!)
Any hoo. That was the day that was today. |

[Oct. 29th, 2007|10:07 pm] |
Ok, so I'm crap at telling people about stuff like email changes...I just assume that as I know, well then you will all know too.
So, my castle in the sky email doesn't work any more. If you want me you will have to either get me on facebook.. or gmail me....the address of which you must find through your own nefarious means (or you could jsut ask me).
Appologies to the thousands of you who in the last year have been emailing me, (cos obviously you will have been cos I am great!) you probably haven't got hold of me, unless you are one of the elite few who have my gmail...and yes feel free to fight amongst yourselves to try and work out a pecking order of who is the best...this obviously has nothing to do with my being an idiot and everything to do with how much I like you all...honest.
Right then, I think that is that complete social faux pas nicely averted, and no one noticed that I totally forgot to tell people about the new email... everyone will be too busy fighting over who is my bestest mate....
.....oh. you're still reading this aren't you. Bugger.
...oh ok, I'm daft. I forgot.
Bah. Carry on. Nothing more to see here. Bah. |
